Job Description

Component: Before and After School Program – School Age Children

Education: Registration with the College of ECE (RECE) is required for this position.

Hourly Wage: $26.85 plus hourly provincial wage enhancement if applicable.

Contract End Date: April 2027.

Program Director – Before School and After School Program

PLASP Child Care Services is a charitable organization operating on a not‑for‑profit basis, providing high‑quality early learning and child care for children up to 12 years of age. PLASP operates in more than 240 schools, providing before school, lunch and after school programs and 38 full‑day early learning and child care centres and six EarlyON locations for children from 0 – 6 years.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a safe, warm, and caring environment in which a high‑quality extended day program can operate.
• Plan, develop and implement programs of stimulating age‑appropriate activities for groups of children. Activities promote their physical, social, emotional and intellectual well‑being in accordance with the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA), How Does Learning Happen (HDLH), and the guidelines established by PLASP for all program components including P.A. days.
• Budget and order food for the program, prepare nutritious breakfast and snacks while adhering to the Canada Food Guide and the rotating snack planner.
• Supervise and train staff, volunteers and students on placement (if applicable), provide strong leadership, decision‑making and problem‑solving skills, and conduct regular performance appraisals.
• Handle all administrative duties for the program, including registration, record‑keeping, health and safety monitoring and ordering of supplies.
• Operate programs in accordance with Ministry of Education (MEDU) standards and ensure the CCEYA license is in good standing.
• Participate fully in P.A. days, providing safe, reliable care on and off school premises.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in child care and community service organization, with experience in supervision of staff preferred.
• Knowledge of the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA) and Ministry of Education licensing requirements.
• ECE degree or diploma and registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE).
• Valid Standard First Aid Certificate, with Level C CPR.
• Valid Criminal Reference Check – Vulnerable Sector.
• All health requirements (immunizations) met in accordance with the CCEYA and Medical Officer of Health.
