The Manager, Employee Care plays a key role in enhancing the employee experience and supporting frontline staff in alignment with Paladin's people-first culture. Reporting to the Director, People & Culture, this position provides leadership in employee relations, labour relations, engagement, and retention initiatives while ensuring compliance with company policies, collective agreements, and employment legislation.
The Manager leads a small team and acts as a trusted advisor to operational leaders, providing guidance on workplace investigations, performance management, conflict resolution, employee engagement, and labour relations matters. This role is instrumental in fostering positive relationships, supporting employee development, and creating an exceptional employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Employee Care team.
- Provide expert guidance on employee relations, labour relations, workplace investigations, performance management, and conflict resolution.
- Interpret and apply collective agreements, company policies, and employment legislation.
- Manage grievances and support labour relations processes, including mediation and arbitration preparation.
- Partner with operational leaders to drive employee engagement, recognition, retention, and career development initiatives.
- Lead employee care programs, recognition events, and culture-building activities.
- Support leave management and return-to-work processes.
- Track and analyze employee and labour relations metrics, providing insights and recommendations to leadership.
- Ensure compliance with employment standards, human rights legislation, and organizational policies.
- Foster positive relationships with employees, leaders, union representatives, and key stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 5-8 years of progressive experience in employee and labour relations.
- Experience working in unionized and non-unionized environments.
- Strong knowledge of collective agreement interpretation, grievance management, workplace investigations, and dispute resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to advise leaders on complex workplace matters.
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Business, or a related field.
- CHRP or CHRL designation is an asset.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

This role requires five (5) days at our corporate office in Burnaby, with the potential to work one (1) day from home after a probationary period.
