This position is eligible for a pre-employment signing bonus of $3,550 in return for a successful candidate accepting a job offer for this position.

0.71 FTE Continuing – Science 9 (2 blocks), Life Sciences 11,

Anatomy and Physiology 12, and Chemistry 11

Commencing: September 1, 2026

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

• completion of a Bachelor of Education;
• certification by or eligible to become BC certified by the BC Teacher Certification Branch;
• academic training, qualifications and recent successful experience teaching secondary level Sciences;
• strong classroom management skills;
• the ability and energy to work with multi-age groups and meet the needs of students with a range of learning styles and abilities using a variety of teaching strategies;
• the ability and desire to work closely with staff in a team-oriented approach to teaching and learning;
• strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills;
• strong interest in innovation and inquiry; and
• ability to embed local Indigenous culture and ways of knowing into teaching practices.

Note: Candidates are not eligib le for  the pre-employment signing bonus  i f they were previously paid a pre-employment hiring incentive for a teaching position in the K-12 sector (in the 2023/2024, 2024/2025 or 2025/2026 school years under the provincial hiring incentives program)

The starting annual salary for a full-time School Teacher position ranges from $71,425 to $119,497, with placement in the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The Remote Recruitment and Retention allowance is available for SD85 teachers payable at $3,220 over ten months.
