Senior Data and AI Architect

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Data and AI Architect to join our Business Technology – Digital Engineering Solutions domain. The successful candidate will help drive strategic Architecture, Engineering and Construction initiatives using advanced data technologies and analytics to deliver actionable business insights and robust solutions for AEC professionals.

Responsibilities

Develop and design the architecture for various data and AI solutions, ensuring each solution is scalable, secure, and reliable.

Engage with business units to understand their requirements and translate them into technical designs.

Create architectural solutions for complex architecture, engineering and environmental science problems.

Design and implement strategies to scale data and AI solutions across different business units.

Produce detailed architecture and technical design documents for our data and AI solutions.

Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, data analysts and stakeholders on initiatives and efforts.

Show eagerness to learn and work as part of a multidisciplinary team across a global practice.

Stay abreast of the latest developments, innovations and best practices in emerging technologies, tools and software applications.

Assist with the development of documentation, standards, best practices and workflows for data technology hardware/software across the business.

Present to external audiences as needed.

Support marketing, communications and business development activities as required.

Provide internal and external website content as needed.

Perform other duties as required.

Skills & Abilities

Advanced knowledge of the data management lifecycle: governance, architecture, integration, metadata, development, quality, administration, security, stewardship and master data management.

Strong experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services and Databricks.

Familiarity with the Azure well‑architected framework and ability to apply its principles.

Expertise in developing highly complex data and AI architectures, with an inquisitive mindset for exploring business and data challenges.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to convey concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Ability to build rapport and credibility as a strategic and diplomatic partner with business units.

Innovative thinker capable of generating new solutions or ideas that create value and improve processes.

Detail oriented and able to execute highly complex or specialized projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree.

Minimum five years of related experience, or equivalent additional directly related experience in lieu of a degree.

Travel Requirements Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.

Compensation Pay Range: USD $144,477.00 – USD $252,824.00.
