You'll be part of the Financial Diligence team which provides clients with the financial and strategic transaction assistance to ensure the success of their transaction.  Our FD teams assist clients throughout the entire transaction process. While traditional financial due diligence is a key element of the service, FD is much broader, incorporating transaction management, negotiation and documentation, and post-completion integration.

Your key responsibilities

Our team of strategic advisors sits at the heart of a global team of transaction specialists who deliver high quality advice to our clients.  Our team works to understand profit drivers and trends, challenge assumptions of future performance, and assist with purchase agreements and post-closing transaction matters. 

Skills and attributes for success

• Participate and play a leadership role in due diligence engagements related to acquisitions or divestments by private equity investor groups and strategic corporate players.
• Identify and quantify GAAP issues as they relate to the valuation of the target.
• Prepare/evaluate pro forma financial information.
• Analyse carve-out issues, as applicable relating to a buy-side or sell-side project.
• Identify issues for purchase price reductions, deal structuring or deal termination.
• Identify post-acquisition/divestiture action steps.
• Evaluate effects of seasonality on cash flow requirements.
• Correlate due diligence findings with client valuations and manage expectations of service.
• Drive the growth of the practice by leading client outreach, accelerating market development, thought leadership, spearheading pursuits and proposal development, and fostering long-lasting, revenue-generating partnerships.
• Develop people including supervising staff effectively, providing constructive feedback/training and conduct performance reviews.
• Build strong relationships across service lines, manage cross-functional collaboration and delivery.

To qualify for the role, you must have

• This role involves interaction with clients operating nationally and globally. Bilingualism in both French and English is therefore a requirement of this role.
• Minimum 8 years of experience with 5 years of diligence experience.
• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting and/or related major.
• CPA or CA, CPA certification (or equivalent).
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Proficiency with analytics tools strongly preferred: familiarity with PowerBI for data visualization and Alteryx for data preparation.
• Proven track record managing teams on multiple concurrent projects and deadlines, providing direction to team members, and overseeing engagement(s) scope, resources and financials.
• Proven track record of developing long-lasting business relationships with senior client stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills to clients at all organization levels, including executive, VP, director, and operational management.
• Experience presenting findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders, including executives and boards.
• Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Strong work initiative and the ability to adapt to new challenges and ideas.
• Willingness to team and learn.
• The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel within Canada and US.
