Hospitalists are responsible for providing comprehensive inpatient care as the Most Responsible Physician ( MRP ) for admitted patients. Physicians work collaboratively with nursing, allied health professionals, specialists, primary care providers, and community partners to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centred care throughout the patient journey.
Responsibilities
• Admit, assess, and manage hospitalized medical patients on site
• Provide daily inpatient care and participate in multidisciplinary rounds
• Coordinate consultations and collaborate with specialist services
• Develop and implement treatment and discharge plans
• Ensure timely and accurate documentation
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Support patient flow and transition planning
