About us:
The Island Corridor Foundation (ICF) is a non-profit society and federally registered charity established to own and manage the rail corridor on Vancouver Island. The Foundation recognizes the importance of this corridor as a link that connects communities economically, socially, and culturally. The Foundation membership includes the 14 First Nations and 5 Regional Districts communities adjacent to the Corridor who jointly govern the organization.
The ICF, its members, and the Provincial and Federal governments are actively engaged in the development of a shared vision for the future of the corridor. The Corridor Project Coordinator will act as project coordinator and resource for ICF members, including First Nations and Regional Districts, as well as Provincial, and Federal government participants, to assist in the development of the shared vision for the corridor.
Reporting to the CEO the Corridor Project Coordinator will:
1) Promote and coordinate outreach and engagement with ICF members and government, developing and maintaining an effective working relationship with all project participants.
2) Further the research and work associated with the land reversion processes for First Nations expressing such an interest.
3) Compile, prepare, and distribute necessary and/or requested background documentation and information for all aspects of the project including the revisionary process.
4) Inventory and update where appropriate the suite of encumbrances, commercial contracts, right of ways, and other interests along the full length of the corridor.
5) Assist all participants with any aspects of the development of potential uses and alignments for each unique segment of the corridor in furtherance of the goals of each of the participants.
6) Work with all project participants to keep the project moving forward in a timely fashion.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
· Build and enhance meaningful, relationships with First Nations member communities, Chief and Councils, First Nations staff, Regional District Boards and staff, and Provincial and Federal project participants.
· Lead the development and execution of engagement and consultation programs to ensure timely and effective communication between all project participants.
· Plan coordinate, implement and participate in events, meetings, and workshops, as required.
· Develop and prepare necessary background and historical reports ensuring timely and effective delivery to all project participants.
· Coordinate and manage information sharing between each of the various project participant groups ensuring all participants have access to available information.
· Manage day-to-day administrative activities of the project including document preparation, reports, briefs, letters, memos, agreements, presentations, agendas, speaking notes, and meeting minutes.
· Actively participates in all corridor planning meetings and provide recommendations concerning policies, procedures, bylaws, programs, budgets, and project planning.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
· Minimum two (2) year Diploma (or a Degree Program) in Local Government Administration, Indigenous Governance, Legal Studies, Community Development, Political Science, or a related field from a recognized educational institution. Bachelor's degree preferred.
· Experience in a managerial/administration role in a government or non-governmental department, society, or organization, preferably in a First Nation environment.
· Experience working with First Nation communities and leadership and strong knowledge and understanding of First Nations governance models - established relationships with member First Nation communities would be an asset.
· Demonstrated project management experience involving multiple and diverse groups or organizations.
· Ability to use a collaborative approach to critical thinking, problem-solving and conflict resolution.
· Excellent computer skills with a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to learn new software quickly.
· Excellent communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills are required.
· Flexibility to attend community events/meetings during evenings and weekends.
· Sensitivity, empathy, and discretion when dealing with sensitive or confidential information.
· Ability to coordinate a variety of administrative responsibilities under time constraints and with minimum supervision while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and prioritizing appropriately to meet deadlines
Proficient in the use of MS Office suite
· Must be willing and able to travel to meet job requirements.
· Must possess a valid Driver's License.
