Senior Dispatcher - Asset Based (Cross-Border)

We are a Canadian‑based asset trucking company headquartered in Pickering, Ontario. We operate 24/7, moving freight across Canada and the United States with a strong focus on service, safety, and long‑term relationships with drivers and customers.

As our fleet continues to grow, we areimmediately looking to add an experienced Asset‑Based Dispatcher to our team.

About the Role

Reporting to the  Director of Transportation , this Dispatcher role is responsible for managing day‑to‑day dispatch operations for an asset‑based fleet of approximately 80 trucks.

This is a hands‑on role that requires the ability to both “buy” and “sell” loads, proactively communicate with drivers and customers, and continuously plan to keep trucks moving efficiently and profitably.

If you are comfortable operating in a calm but fast‑paced environment, thinking ahead, and solving problems before they escalate, this role will be a strong fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Dispatch long‑haul and cross‑border freight (Canada–USA, Ontario–Quebec)
• Buy and sell freight, including:
• Cold‑calling carriers and brokers
• Using Load Link and existing industry relationships
• Negotiating competitive and profitable rates
• Communicate clearly and proactively with drivers regarding:
• Dispatch plans
• Hours of Service (HOS)
• Load changes and expectations
• Allocate drivers and equipment to:
• Maximize lane profitability
• Reduce empty miles
• Improve fleet utilization
• Maintain strong, unprompted communication with customers
• Keep a high level of awareness of driver activity (past, current, and upcoming) to identify potential issues early
• Work closely with other Dispatchers to coordinate shipments
• Resolve escalated issues efficiently and professionally
• Provide high‑level customer service at all times
• Accurately follow internal processes and update systems
• Support company safety policies and operational standards
• Participate in on‑call rotation as required

• Minimum 3 years of experience dispatching cross‑border freight
• Strong understanding of freight markets and rate negotiation
• Proven experience buying and selling loads
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills with drivers, customers, and partners
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
• Calm, solution‑oriented approach to problem‑solving
• Solid computer skills
• Experience with TMW, Isaac, and HOS systems is an asset
