Site Description: The Georgetown Hospital is a community hospital located in the Georgetown area of Halton Hills, Ontario. It is part of the Halton Healthcare Services group of hospitals. Built on 17 acres of land, it opened in 1961 to serve the Halton Region, but today it also serves the communities of Peel Region.   

Position: Full-Time Security Guard   

Site: Georgetown Hospital, 1 Princess Anne Dr, Georgetown, ON L7G 2B8   

Hours: Continental Rotation (0700-1900/1900-0700)   

Payrate:

• $19.63/hr – $22.09/hr, based on the levelling system. 
• Starting rate: Level 3 at $21.17/hr . 
• Training Requirement: All Level 3 training must be completed within 8 months. 
• If training is not completed within this timeframe, the pay rate will be adjusted to the appropriate level based on completed requirements. 

Overtime Eligibility: Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Key responsibilities:

• Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
• Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
• Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
• Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
• Greeting and assisting visitors, patients, and hospital staff.
• De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
• Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately.
• Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort.
• Ensure all hospital policies protocols are followed.
• Address any violations onsite.

Requirements:

• A Valid Ontario Security Guard License
• Proficient in English (both oral and written)
• Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services would be an asset
• Previous one year experience in healthcare security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
• Proof of double Covid Vaccination
• Immunization Record (measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and TB skin tests 1 and 2)
• Valid First Aid and CPR Level C Certification
• Able to provide a clean shaven face in order to pass a N95 mask fit test
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
• Legally authorized to work in Canada

Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is unpaid as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
