SAP BASIS Consultant / Toronto, ON (Hybrid) - Contract

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced SAP BASIS Consultant to manage the administration, installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance optimization of SAP landscapes. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SAP BASIS administration, system upgrades, migrations, high availability, security, and production support across complex enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, administer, and maintain SAP systems across Development, QA, UAT, and Production environments.
• Perform SAP system installations, upgrades, patches, kernel updates, and support package implementations.
• Monitor and optimize SAP system performance, availability, and capacity.
• Manage SAP transports using Transport Management System (TMS).
• Perform SAP system refreshes, client copies, backups, restores, and disaster recovery activities.
• Administer SAP HANA and Oracle databases in collaboration with database administrators.
• Configure and maintain SAP security, user administration, and authorizations.
• Support SAP integrations with third‑party applications and enterprise systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve SAP BASIS‑related production issues within defined SLAs.
• Implement High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.
• Support SAP S/4HANA migration and cloud transformation initiatives.
• Collaborate with functional consultants, developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders.
• Prepare technical documentation, system architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks.
• Participate in on‑call support, maintenance windows, and production deployments.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of IT experience.
• 5+ years of hands‑on SAP BASIS administration experience.
• Strong expertise in:
  • SAP BASIS Administration
  • SAP NetWeaver
  • SAP S/4HANA
  • SAP ECC
  • SAP Solution Manager
• Experience with:
  • SAP Kernel upgrades
  • Support Package Stack (SPS) upgrades
  • SAP Transport Management System (TMS)
  • SAP Software Update Manager (SUM)
  • SAP Host Agent
• Solid knowledge of SAP HANA administration and database management.
• Experience with Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems.
• Knowledge of Oracle, SQL Server, or HANA databases.
• Experience with system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with SAP security concepts and user administration.
• Strong scripting skills (Shell, PowerShell, or Python) are an advantage.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Banking or Financial Services environments.
• SAP Certified Technology Associate SAP System Administration certification is preferred.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA migrations and upgrades.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or SAP RISE.
• Experience with SAP Fiori and SAP Gateway administration.
• Knowledge of SAP Landscape Management (LaMa).
• Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments.
