Working towards a world free from cancer, BC Cancer has a mandate that covers the entire spectrum of cancer care, from prevention and screening to diagnosis, treatment and survivorship. BC Cancer provides a comprehensive cancer control program for the people of British Columbia in partnership with regional health authorities to deliver a range of cancer services, which include prevention, screening and early detection, diagnosis and treatment, research, education, supportive care, rehabilitation and palliative care. It operates six regional cancer centres in Surrey, Kelowna, Vancouver, Victoria, Abbotsford and Prince George, along with two research centres that conduct research into the causes and cures for cancer.
BC Cancer – Vancouver is the largest treatment facility within BC Cancer and works in close collaboration with the BC Cancer Research Centre (BCCRC) and Vancouver General Hospital (VGH), both of which are in close proximity. We are seeking a Hematologist for the Leukemia/Bone Marrow Transplant Program, located at the Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The preferred candidate shall have Fellowship training and have expertise in both BMT and hematologic malignancies. We are seeking candidates with demonstrable academic achievement who have both superb clinical skills and a keen interest in clinical research. Candidates with an interest in establishing or expanding disease specific programs are strongly encouraged to apply.
This FACT accredited stem cell transplantation program currently treats approximately 330 patients receiving cellular therapies per year, including autologous and allogeneic transplant (including related, unrelated and cord blood transplants) and CAR Tcell Therapies. The Program also provides care for acute leukemia patients in the Province of BC.
The Program has a full complement of support personnel including cell processing through the Cell Therapy Laboratory at the BC Cancer Research Centre. Academic appointments and support are delivered through the Division of Hematology, Department of Medicine, University of British Columbia (UBC). An appointment with the Provincial Health Service Authority (PHSA) is mandatory and consulting privileges at VGH are required. A Clinical Faculty appointment with the Department of Medicine at UBC is expected.
The successful applicant must be eligible for licensure in British Columbia and must have obtained a Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or hold an equivalent qualification, by the time of appointment.
Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
The PHSA is committed to employment equity and diversity and hires on the basis of merit. We welcome applications from all qualified individuals, including visible minority group members, women, Aboriginal persons, persons with disabilities, persons of any sexual orientation or gender identity.
