Director of Engineering in Ontario

Lead innovative engineering efforts at API as a Director of Engineering based in Markham, Ontario. Oversee a collaborative team to enhance our cloud-native systems and architectures. As the Engineering Director at API, you will spearhead a team of 10-20 engineers, blending technical leadership with strategic oversight. We seek a candidate with at least 7 years of software development expertise, including substantial leadership experience, particularly in Java and Angular. Your mission will be to modernize our systems architecture while ensuring high-quality deliveries. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a geographically distributed engineering team with a focus on high performance
• Define architecture and system design for cloud applications
• Collaborate with business leaders to synchronize technical and strategic goals
• Drive execution against product roadmaps, ensuring timely deliveries
• Elevate standards for code quality, testing, and operational practices

Requirements:

• Minimum of 7 years in software development, including leadership experience
• Strong background in Java and Angular or similar technologies
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, and cloud infrastructure
• Experience employing AI tools in software development
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related area
