Chef Manager | Long-Term Care | Red Deer, Alberta

We’re looking for a Chef Manager to lead culinary operations at a Bethany Care long-term care facility in Red Deer. This is a great opportunity for a strong culinary leader who enjoys building a team, creating quality meals, and providing an excellent dining experience for residents.

In long-term care, food is about more than what’s on the plate. It’s an important part of each resident’s day, and we’re looking for a leader who understands how much great food and genuine hospitality can matter.

Job Responsibilities

What You’ll Do: As Chef Manager, you’ll take the lead on day-to-day kitchen and culinary operations, including:

• Lead, coach and support the kitchen and food service team
• Oversee food preparation and step into the kitchen when needed
• Maintain high standards for food quality, presentation, cleanliness and food safety
• Work closely with the Dietitian and care team to support residents’ dietary and therapeutic needs
• Help develop menus and bring variety and creativity to the resident dining experience
• Manage food costs, ordering, inventory and waste
• Coordinate staff scheduling and day-to-day kitchen operations
• Ensure food safety, HACCP and regulatory requirements are consistently followed
• Support catering, special events and other culinary initiatives
• Build positive relationships with residents, families, the client and your team
• Support other Bethany locations with culinary initiatives when required

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For : We’d love to meet chefs and culinary leaders who bring:

• 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience in a kitchen or food service environment
• Strong culinary experience and confidence leading kitchen operations
• A passion for coaching and developing people
• Strong organization and communication skills
• An understanding of food safety and safe food-handling practices
• Experience in healthcare, seniors living or long-term care is strongly valued
• A college diploma in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, Food & Nutrition, Management or a related area is preferred
• Food Safety certification is an asset
• Culinary certification is an asset, but not required
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Office

The pay range for this role is $60,000-$68,000/ year

The pay range for this position is $1.00 - $1.00.
