Job Responsibility:

Building Technician

The Building Technician will report to the Technical Operations Supervisor/Manager and will be responsible for the maintenance and repairs of various mechanical and electrical systems within the property portfolio.

General Responsibilities:

• Conduct maintenance and repairs to building systems and make recommendations in consultation with the Property Manager and Technical Operations Supervisor;
• Collaborate to implement a pro-active preventative maintenance program for building equipment/systems to ensure that all systems are properly maintained, serviced in a pro-active manner and remain energy efficient;
• Respond to and complete, in a timely manner, all Tenant service requests;
• Responsible for the efficient, effective and successful control of equipment maintenance, building structures and property in accordance with approved practices, procedures, methods and financials;
• Liaise with contractors, assist in providing supervision of all trades servicing the building equipment/systems;
• Maintain all appropriate logs and manuals as required;
• Proficient in various BAS systems, Angus Anywhere, and ability to review blueprints/drawings;
• Liaise with Building Operators on a regular basis to establish and maintain a healthy working relationship;
• Provide on the job training to Building Operators;
• Responsible for the appearance of the property and safety and convenience of the tenants and clientele at all times;
• Provide after-hours coverage of designated properties on a rotational basis with other building operators and technicians.
• Adhere to all Health and Safety policies and procedures while performing job duties.
• Complete any other duties as requested or required from time to time.

Qualifications & Attributes:

• High School Diploma/College Degree preferred;
• Registered in a recognized trade certification pertinent to the Facility Management industry;
• Ideally a minimum of 5 to 10 years of related working experience;
• Successfully showcasing qualities and attributes of a Level 1 Building Technician.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
• Possess a mechanical/technical aptitude with ability to use a variety of hand and electric tools;
• Able to perform the following mechanical tasks without supervision: change out bearings, drive pulleys, pump maintenance and repairs, mechanical seals, cooling tower maintenance and repairs, soft solder, braze, boiler room inspections;
• Able to perform the following electrical tasks without supervision: troubleshooting with an electrical tester, diagnose and repair DDC controllers, change out electric motors, generator testing and building load transfer testing;
• In-depth knowledge of applicable regulatory codes;
• Ability to troubleshoot, multi-task, work under pressure and achieve quality results;
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment, or independently with minimal supervision;
• Industry related designation(s) in BES and/or BOMI SMT/SMA preferred; and
• Valid Class G driver's license;
• A Criminal Record Check will be a requirement of employment.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $58,000.00-$63,000.00 per year

• 8 hour shift
