Registered Practical Nurse - Inpatient (Permanent Full-Time)

ROLE  

• The nurse fulfilling this role will be required to provide support to all clinical areas of the hospital according to their scope of practice and clinical expertise,
• To administer direct nursing care for patients in those areas assigned.  
• Plans, organizes, and delivers nursing care in a variety of settings. 
• Initiate and assist in Code Blue & Rapid Response procedure.  
• Plans for and communicates to other nursing staff regarding patient needs and priorities when leaving one patient care area to ensure continuity of care.
• Communicates to physicians, other departments or organizations, regarding issues affecting patient care.
• Participates in quality control activities and understands the quality care goals of the organization.
• T he individual is vigilant in ensuring that quality issues are brought to the attention of the appropriate manager/coordinator.
• Participate in educational activities to maintain and advance competency and experience in all areas of patient care.
• Performs other duties as required including occasional escort duties for patients being transferred to other institutions for diagnostic and therapeutic interventions .

 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support)
• IV Therapy
• Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills.  
• Ability to work independently and in an interdisciplinary team environment.  
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and multi-task.  
• Show an eagerness and capacity to adapt to change.  
• Ability to work effectively with patients, colleagues and management.  
• Regular and punctual attendance is a requirement of this position.  
• 2 years of previous Complex Continuing Care, Long Term Care or Medical/Surgical nursing experience (desired)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

Location: South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge. Applicants must reside within 125km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting. *Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis

 

Hours of Work: Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement.
