Transfer Station Attendant - Hartland Landfill MDTS: We are looking for a fun and hard-working person that can represent our company and provide great customer service to our clientele as a Transfer Station Attendant. As an Attendant you will possess an engaging personality, excellent communication skills, and an exceptionable work ethic will be considered an asset. You are responsible for maintaining an organized, clean, safe, and functional Transfer Station. The ideal candidate is passionate in diverting waste from landfills, has a willingness to learn and has a positive, outgoing personality. Our mission is to divert as much material from the landfill as possible - we get dirty, so the environment doesn't have to. Starting wage: $26/hour Your roles and responsibilities include: - Direct and assist commercial haulers upon arrival at the transfer station
- Inspect loads prior to vehicles unloading- once unloaded screen/grade material to ensure it is inline with contamination allotments. When required, report deficiencies to CRD staff
- Document any loads requiring sorting, or which contain garbage
- Relay information to other site attendants and equipment operators
- Identify and prevent disposal of prohibited and hazardous materials.
- Ensure materials are in correct disposal areas, and sort material when required.
- An ability to divert or remove recyclable items from customer waste drop-off loads.
- Set up and operate gas powered transfer pumps for dust suppression
- Enforce proper traffic safety rules and guide customers when necessary.
- An ability to multi-task and work under pressure is not only a requirement but a necessity.
- Be physically fit and the ability to lift up to 15kg.
- Be able to work independently and as a team.
- Experience or willingness to operate a Bobcat Skid Steer and or wheel loader
- Assist with end of day site closure routines/paperwork
- Ability to follow site-specific policies and procedures (such as Skid Steer pre-trip procedures, bin / trailer loading procedures, and other site safety procedures)
This is a permanent full-time position based on 4x 10-hour shifts Any experience in the recycling, waste management, and composting industries is considered an asset. We look forward to hearing from you.
