TITLE: Recreation Therapist I
STATUS: 0.7 FTE-Temporary (ASAP - Dec19/26)
POSITION SUMMARY
As a Recreation Therapist I, you will provide clinical leadership in developing recreation and leisure activities designed to
enhance the quality of life for clients with cognitive and physical impairments. You will provide clinical support with
program development to ensure safe and effective delivery for the clients. You will have the knowledge to complete
assessments and develop treatment plans based on the client’s individual needs. You will collaborate and communicate
with the interdisciplinary health team to ensure safe and effective client care. The therapist will be responsible for the
coordination of Volunteers as a resource/supplement to the program.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of degree or diploma in Recreation Therapy, in compliance with the Alberta Therapeutic Recreation
Association professional standards; Professional membership in Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association
- Experience working in Recreation Therapy program development and delivery, experience with Clinical Recreation
Assessments considered an asset
- Experience working with geriatric clients preferred
- First Aid/CPR, Food Safe Training and Valid Class 5 Driver’s License required
- PIECES training an asset
REQUIREMENTS
• Be familiar with and responsible for the required competencies and standards of practise, ethics, and legislation
outlined by the Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate a variety of group activities
- Maintain proper standards, ethics and communication at all times while following Policy and Procedure
- Participate in professional development opportunities, Clinical Support meetings and other meetings as
appropriate
SHIFT INFORMATION
Mandatory LAPP membership for permanent Part-time and Full-time employees that work a 0.7 FTE or greater (see policy FS 03-04)
Hours per shift: 6 & 7 hrs
Shift pattern: Days
Shifts per Cycle
Commencement Date: When a suitable candidate is found

PAY RANGE: As per collective agreement
