CPKC is hiring an experienced SAP BW‑ABAP Developer for a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. This role is open to candidates based in Calgary or Kansas City. The successful candidate will participate in developing business intelligence solutions that collect, analyze, and present information to the business, and subsequently develop solutions to address business requirements.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Develop, enhance, and maintain code in ABAP, SAP BW, SAP BW/4HANA, SAP HANA, and SAP Datasphere
• Responsible for successful delivery of functional and technical components of Business Intelligence reporting solutions using SAP BW, SAP BW/4HANA, ABAP, SAP Datasphere, SAP Analytics Cloud, and AI‑enabled analytics capabilities
• Develop and enhance data sources for BI extractors in SAP ERP
• Build dashboards, stories, and analytical reports using SAP Analytics Cloud
• Utilize SAP Analytics Cloud features such as smart insights, predictive forecasting, and automated analytics where applicable
• Responsible for root cause analysis and resolution of production issues
• Assess business requirements and processes and provide recommendations on optimal solutions that best serve business needs
• Identify opportunities to apply AI, predictive analytics, automation, and advanced data analysis to improve BI reporting and business insights
• Maintain records and documentation for system development, enhancements, revisions, and support activities
• Perform ABAP development and performance analysis, testing, issue analysis, triage, debugging, job scheduling, execution, monitoring, and issue resolution
• Provide on‑call support for BW, HANA, BO, Datasphere, and SAC applications on a weekly rotation basis
• Provide end‑user support and training
• Collaborate with business users, functional teams, data engineers, and analytics teams to deliver scalable BI solutions
• Support integration of SAP and non‑SAP data sources for reporting, dashboarding, and advanced analytics use cases

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ years of experience in SAP Business Warehouse, including BW versions 7.x and higher, and BW/4HANA
• 3+ years of experience in ABAP programming
• 2+ years of experience in SAP Datasphere and SAP Analytics Cloud
• Strong experience in BW‑ABAP coding, Function Modules, BW custom extractors, routines, transformations, ABAP CDS Views, ABAP Object‑Oriented Programming, and debugging
• Strong experience in building dashboards, stories, and reports using SAP Analytics Cloud
• University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent Business Intelligence technical experience
• Expertise developing ABAP Data Dictionary objects, BADIs, enhancements, user exits, and custom developments
• Good understanding of in‑memory columnar database functionality, especially SAP HANA.
• Experience with SAP HANA modeling, Calculation Views, SQLScript, and performance optimization is preferred
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, troubleshooting, and debugging skills.

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience using AI‑enabled or advanced analytics features in reporting platforms, including smart insights, predictive forecasting, anomaly detection, or automated analytics
• Understanding of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, predictive analytics, and how these capabilities can be applied to BI reporting and business decision‑making
• Familiarity with SAP Business AI, SAP Analytics Cloud Smart Predict, SAP AI Core, SAP AI Launchpad, or similar AI/ML tools is a plus
• Experience with Python, SQL, or data science tools for analytics, automation, or model integration is preferred

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
