Do you enjoy problem solving? Are you looking to establish better systems and processes? If yes, the senior accountant II is just the role for you! As a senior accountant II, you will handle accounting activities related to a specific sub-set of product sales at Best Buy Express locations, ensuring that information prepared is accurately presented and is in accordance with US GAAP, enterprise policies, and agreements with Bell Canada. You will perform month-end calculations, analyze large volumes of complex data, design reconciliations, and provide weekly reporting for applicable programs and initiatives. You will collaborate cross-functionally to address accounting treatments, streamline processes, and conduct root cause analysis. In this role, the successful candidate is required to be in the greater Vancouver, BC area, where we practice a remote-first working model, leveraging in person interactions for strategic, collaborative, and social purposes. What you'll do: - Ensure month-end financials accuracy by monitoring assigned accounts activity, liaising with business experts and Bell to investigate and resolve discrepancies, preparing journal entries, conducting variance analyses, completing reconciliations in accordance with US GAAP and enterprise finance policy
- Drive processes and calculations for a subset of product-related accounting and funds flows to ensure billing and reconciliation completeness and accuracy, create complex reporting and reconciliations
- Provide weekly and monthly reporting and analyses to internal and external partners, collaborate regularly with Best Buy Express, Finance, Merchandising, and IT teams, and serving as a SME for all of your product subset related inquiries
- Ensure promotional gift cards and other forms of sale incentives offered at Best Buy Express locations are correctly captured on Best Buy's books and related reconciliations and other accounting activities are completed timely
- Prepare complex reporting pertaining to Best Buy membership, Geek Squad services and extended warranty sold at Best Buy Express locations
What we're looking for: - 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience at a senior level in a medium to large organization
- CPA designation or pursuing CPA or related accounting designation
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and concepts
- Advanced MS Excel experience and strong systems aptitude
- Experience with SQL, BI tools, and Alteryx
