Customers run mission-critical workloads on it, from startups to the largest enterprises, across EC2, Fargate, and ECS Managed Instances. We're hiring an SDM to lead a team of software engineers who build and operate a core part of ECS. You will own a large-scale distributed system and set the technical direction for it. You will also grow the engineers on your team and keep the service highly available, secure, and fast to improve.

You will work with Principal Engineers, product management, and peer teams across Containers, EC2, networking, and security. You will own the roadmap for your area, from customer problem to launch to operations.

• Work backwards from customers. Write and review PRFAQs and design docs, prioritize with product management, and deliver on commitments.
• Plan and manage delivery across multiple quarters. Balance new features, tech debt, scale, and operational work.
• Raise engineering standards: testing, deployment safety, observability, and use of AI-assisted development to speed up the team.
