Operations & Communications Coordinator

Job Overview

The Operations and Communications Coordinator supports the effective day-to-day operations and communications of the Yukon Anti-Poverty Coalition. The role coordinates administrative processes, meetings, events, organizational information and communications while supporting strong relationships with members, partners and community stakeholders.

The Coordinator develops and shares clear, accessible, and engaging communications that amplify the Coalition’s work, highlight community voices and successes, and build awareness of poverty and social justice issues across the Yukon. Through strong coordination, organization, and relationship-building, the role helps strengthen the Coalition’s capacity to engage the community, advance its priorities, and contribute to meaningful social and systems change.

Key Responsibilities

Operations and Administration
● Coordinate the implementation and completion of assigned projects, events or initiatives.
● Coordinate meetings, workshops, consultations, and other activities; including scheduling, logistics, materials, documentation and follow-up.
● Coordinate and support the work of staff, contractors, consultants, volunteers and community partners as required.
● Maintain organized and accessible organizational information, records, calendars, and administrative systems.
● Provide administrative, operational support to the Coalition’s staff, leadership, committees, and working groups.

Communications and Community Engagement
● Develop and coordinate clear, accessible, and engaging communications that advance the Coalition’s mission, priorities, and public engagement.
● Develop and coordinate content for newsletters, social media, website, reports, presentations, and other communication channels.
● Coordinate communications with members, partners, media, community organizations, and other stakeholders as appropriate.
● Lead and support the promotion of Coalition events, initiatives, reports, campaigns, and community activities.
● Coordinate information and communication across project teams, working groups, partners, and other stakeholders.
● Support the coordination and facilitation of collaborative initiatives, working groups, consultations, and community engagement processes.
● Identify and share stories, community perspectives, and successes that help communicate the Coalition’s impact and priorities.
● Ensure communications are respectful, inclusive, accessible, and aligned with YAPC’s values and commitment to dignity and social justice.

Projects Coordination and Advocacy
● Monitor emerging issues, barriers, and opportunities and support timely responses and solutions including proposal and grant writing and supporting contractors
● Support research, information gathering, and preparation of materials that inform the Coalition’s advocacy and policy priorities.
● Coordinate information and follow-up with community partners, members, working groups, and other stakeholders to support collective advocacy efforts.
● Identify opportunities to elevate community perspectives, lived expertise, and emerging issues in the Coalition’s advocacy work.
● Support the monitoring and communication of policy, legislative, and community developments relevant to the Coalition’s mandate.
● Contribute to evaluation, reporting, and learning activities to capture project progress, outcomes, and opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience
1. 2-3+ years of experience in non profit, community, operations, communications or coordination roles.
2. Strong organizational and administrative skills with ability to manage multiple priorities, projects and deadlines.
3. Proficiency with digital communications, social media, website content and common office and collaboration tools.
4. Experience coordinating meetings, events, working groups, or community engagement activities.
5. Knowledge of Yukon communities and the social, economic, and systemic factors that contribute to poverty and inequality is an asset
6. Experience working with people with lived or living experience of poverty, homelessness or social exclusion, is an asset.
