You will champion Liberty's values and commitment to inclusion, helping foster a collaborative, high-performing, and market-leading culture.
What you'll do
- Lead risk engineering strategy across energy and renewable energy portfolios, championing best-in-class standards and practices.
- Manage a portfolio of complex energy accounts, including renewable energy, conventional power generation, battery energy storage systems (BESS), transmission and distribution infrastructure, and associated energy operations.
- Direct risk assessments and loss control services across first- and third-party lines, helping shape underwriting strategy and client outcomes.
- Serve as a technical expert, providing clear, actionable recommendations to underwriting, claims, brokers, clients, owners, operators, contractors, and developers.
- Develop and share thought leadership through guidelines, white papers, training materials, and technical presentations that elevate risk engineering practices across the business.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with Underwriting, Claims, brokers, clients, and global Risk Engineering partners.
- Represent the organization in client meetings, broker engagements, project development discussions, and industry events as a credible and influential voice.
- Mentor and support the development of colleagues, underwriters, and peers, helping strengthen technical capability across the team.
Functional Responsibilities
:
In this senior role, you'll go beyond technical delivery — you'll help drive profitable growth. Partnering closely with Underwriters, you'll contribute to business development efforts, support client retention, and influence key decisions that shape our portfolio.
Risk Assessment & Technical Advisory
- Conduct pre- and post-bind surveys, desktop analyses, engineering reviews, and onsite assessments of energy and renewable energy operations.
- Evaluate operational risks associated with wind farms, solar facilities, hydroelectric stations, gas-fired generation, battery storage systems, substations, transmission infrastructure, and emerging energy technologies.

- Review engineering controls, operational reliability programs, maintenance practices, emergency response capabilities, and safety management systems.
- Provide timely, expert guidance to Underwriting on risk quality, probable maximum loss (PML), business interruption exposures, and pricing/terms.
Loss Prevention & Mitigation
- Develop and implement site-specific mitigation strategies focused on asset reliability, fire protection, machinery integrity, operational resilience, and catastrophe preparedness.
- Evaluate and recommend risk improvement initiatives related to battery storage systems, electrical protection systems, fire suppression systems, condition monitoring technologies, and emergency response planning.
- Track recommendations and ensure accurate, up-to-date risk engineering data.
- Support claims through technical reviews, site visits, root cause analysis, and post-loss assessments to drive continuous improvement.
Client & Broker Engagement
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, brokers, owners, operators, developers, engineering consultants, and project stakeholders.
- Participate in client meetings, project planning discussions, and strategic risk reviews to support growth and retention.
- Deliver clear, high-impact reports, stewardship materials, and service plans to demonstrate value.
- Act as a strategic advisor on operational risk management, asset protection, and energy sector best practices.
Portfolio Insights & Continuous Improvement
- Analyze portfolio trends, loss drivers, emerging technologies, and service utilization to prioritize efforts and improve results.
- Identify and implement enhancements to tools, processes, and service delivery models.
- Support innovation through adoption of advanced technologies, remote monitoring systems, predictive analytics, condition monitoring, and resilience-based risk management approaches.
