In this role, you will support OEM’s strategy of building high quality components by relying on strong processes and detailed documentation to improve quality, repeatability, consistency, and execution, by your teams across 3 shifts, for the strategy and department goals provided. Oversee Safety, Quality, and Production for the area;
provide leadership and supervision, and manage the human resources for the departmentCoordinate all shifts (3 Shift Rotation), to ensure area is meeting production, quality and safety targetsEnsure safety policies and operating practices are implemented, identify deficiencies and take corrective action as necessaryRespond to safety incidents quickly and with appropriate corrective actionsProactively look for lean and continuous improvement opportunitiesProblem solve process, quality, and production improvementsEnsure communication among the shifts is seamless and standardized including a set of weekly / bi-weekly toolbox meetings for each shift including safety topics, corporate messages, and procedural updates, etc.Develop detailed plans for managing and communicating process changesDevelop business cases for capital & operational expenditures for departmental projectsExecution of the weekly Production Plan, including labour load leveling, overtime management and variance trackingWeekly production and quality variance analysis, and improvement recommendationsProvide direct cost oversight (e.G. labour utilization, overtime, consumables and material overages)Review all warranty reports, CAR’s and NCR’s generated against the department area and delegate investigations to Team Leaders as necessaryInitiate department CARs where appropriate and participate/lead in development and implementation of corrective actionsDevelop technician career progression and training plans within the departmentEnsure assignment and completion of scheduled daily and preventative maintenance responsibilitiesConduct regular 5S, process, Contamination Control and quality auditsPerform Performance Management and Progressive discipline as requiredQualifications
5+ years of Operational Management ExperienceExperience leading teams that rebuild or remanufacture heavy equipment components is considered an assetExperience working in a unionized environmentExperience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environmentDemonstrated process improvement experienceThe ability to interact with various levels within the organization, conduct interviews with subject matter experts and analyze information to understand the product and proceduresHave the ability to assimilate and convey technical material in a concise, effective mannerKnow how to find information and identify essential detailsStrong attention to detailFamiliar with ISO Quality Assurance ProgramAbove average process analysis and change management skillsAbove average communication and organizational skillsStrong leadership and management skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office softwareNote: This is a Monday to Friday position based out of our OEM Remanufacturing facility in Edmonton.Benefits
