Are you passionate about creating inclusive and equitable educational environments? Athabasca University is seeking a dedicated Examination Administrator to join our team. Reporting to the Learner Success Liaison, you will play a crucial role in providing accommodated exam services to students with accessibility needs, ensuring their equitable participation in academic programs. This position involves responding to inquiries, processing exams using various platforms, creating accessible examination documents, and invigilating exams through multiple delivery methods.

As part of our collaborative team, you will work closely with administrative, service, and academic units to align with university mandates and policies, reflecting the principles of universal design, inclusion, and equity. We are looking for someone who is innovative, organized, and committed to accessibility best practices. Qualifications:

  • Minimum post-secondary degree in a related field (including but not limited to psychology, occupational therapy, education, special education, physical education (adaptive), recreation, or disability studies).
  • Minimum 2 years of direct accessibility advising experience in an online environment is required.
  • Knowledge of Human Rights legislation that addresses accessibility-related inclusion, barriers, and reasonable accommodation
  • Demonstrated leadership and diplomacy with the ability to advocate for adherence to policy and accessibility best practices
  • Ability to assess available resources and find optimal accommodation solutions
  • Ability to analyse complex situations, clearly articulate potential goals/solutions, and gain cooperation in guiding someone through facilitation, instructions, de-escalation, and conflict resolution
  • Ability to interact knowledgeably, comfortably, positively, and respectfully with a diverse group of individuals with a broad range of abilities, credentials, and accessibility needs
  • Experience providing instruction in an online environment via webcam, telephone, or screen sharing.
  • Computer proficiency related to data processing, electronic records, databases, communication, and online research; knowledge and experience in the Banner and SRM systems strongly preferred
  • Superior verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills are essential. Including decision making ability under pressure and ability to adhere to deadlines.
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail is required
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
