Job Duties & Responsibilities
Ability to shoot grades and establish grades.
Properly prep and set up material for installation.
Record and mark up drawings for as-builts at the end of the project.
Work in a team environment with attention to safety and productivity
Understand and comply with all company policies and procedures.
Must be willing and able to learn general construction practices involving water, sewer, and road construction.
Operate and maintain equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Carry out minor maintenance and inspection of equipment.
Support stripping operations of existing surfaces – topsoil and aggregates
Perform excavation for topsoil stripping, rough grading, final grading, culvert installation, trenching, truck loading, concrete and asphalt removal.
Follow marks on grade stakes or hand signals.
Level soil, rock, and debris
Demonstrate a clear understanding of roadway plans, drawings, and grades.
Follow instructions and collaborate with others to complete tasks.
Perform other related duties as required.
Understand the issues involving ground disturbance and the ability to work in and implement safe work practices and contribute to a safe work environment.
Ability to work in a team environment.

Position Requirements & Skills
Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
3 years relevant experience
CSTS certification or ability to achieve.
High school diploma/GED
Gradesman experience is considered an asset.
Must have valid CSTS-09, WHMIS 2015, Ground Disturbance and CSA-approved 8” steel toe work boots.
Hard-working, positive attitude & willingness to learn.
Desire to complete tasks on time- A valid driver’s license is required.
Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
Ability to operate required equipment safely and responsibly.
Time management skills.
Use of Personal Protective Equipment (e.g., hard hats, safety boots, etc.) will be required.
Ability to read specifications, blueprints, and as-builds.
Can adapt to changing circumstances.
Makes suggestions for improvement.
Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current.
