Mechanical Engineering Expert

About the Role
We are looking for mechanical engineering experts to help train and evaluate AI models. You will create realistic problems with reference answers, write grading rubrics, and compare model responses for technical correctness. Your professional judgment sets the standard that AI systems are measured against.
Key Responsibilities
Design realistic mechanical engineering problems with complete reference answers.
Write grading rubrics that separate professional engineering judgment from textbook recall.
Evaluate AI-generated calculations, designs and specifications head-to-head and explain which is better and why.
Review problems and answers across areas such as statics and dynamics, thermal and fluid systems, stress analysis, manufacturing processes and reliability.
Check answers against relevant standards and codes where applicable.
Document errors in model reasoning and propose improved responses.
Follow project guidelines, take part in calibration and review sessions, and incorporate feedback to keep quality consistent.
Who We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, plus a Master’s/PhD or 4+ years of professional experience.
Solid design or analysis experience in your discipline.
Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
Working knowledge of engineering analysis tools (for example CAD, FEA or CFD).
Excellent written English.
Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional engineer (PE) or chartered status (CEng).
Experience writing rubrics, design documentation or training material.
Familiarity with ASME or ISO standards.
Experience with SolidWorks, ANSYS or similar tools.

Compensation
USD $80–105 per hour, adjusted by country of residence.
