Pharmacy Assistant

Sandstone Pharmacies Enhanced Care Solutions is looking for a full-time Pharmacy Assistant to join our team in Calgary, Alberta.

Patient Focused Care Responsibilities

• Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care
• Greet customers and answer phone calls in a professional manner
• Assist with entering, labelling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
• Accurately count, measure, and package medications according to established protocols
• Receive and stock medication and supply shipments, monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and support inventory audits
• Keep the pharmacy area clean and organized; safely dispose of expired medications and hazardous waste in accordance with regulations
• Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and assist with insurance claims and prescription transfers
• Assist with daily pharmacy operations and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Previous central fill pharmacy experience and knowledge of Synmed and Pacmed are preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a retail pharmacy with a preliminary understanding of the pharmacy business is preferred.
• Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is an asset.
• Skilled in using Kroll and highly accurate and efficient in prescription data entry.
• Experience with Pacmed and Synmed systems is considered an asset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to thrive in a team environment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to stand for long periods and occasional lifting of boxes/containers
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Schedule

• 40 hours per week.
• The position operates seven days a week, including weekends, on a schedule of four 10-hour shifts per week, with every other weekend required.
• Shift times are 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
