This is a hands‑on development role: you’ll write Java and Spring Boot code every day, design APIs and data models, and work closely with your Team Lead, frontend developers, and cross‑functional partners to deliver secure, reliable solutions. You’ll also bring strong, practical AI skills, using AI coding assistants and agents every day to design, build, test, and ship. It’s a great fit for a developer who thrives in fast‑paced, agile environments and enjoys learning from and helping teammates.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot.Work hands‑on with AI coding assistants and agents in your daily development, from implementation through testing, code review, and debugging.Build and integrate RESTful and SOAP‑based services, including modern authentication (SAML, PingFederate).Design data models and write efficient queries across relational and NoSQL databases.Build on AWS services such as EC2, S3, SNS, Secrets Manager, and Cognito.Write automated unit and integration tests for the functionality you develop.Document and test APIs using Postman and Swagger.Turn business requirements into clean, secure, and maintainable code.Troubleshoot and resolve issues across development, staging, and production.Contribute to code reviews, technical design discussions, and team best practices, including how the team uses AI tools.Collaborate with your Team Lead, frontend developers, and cross‑functional teams to deliver on commitments.What success looks likeDelivery

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related fieldAt least 5 years of experience in backend application developmentStrong, hands‑on use of AI in software development: coding assistants and agents (e.G. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor), agentic workflows, and AI‑assisted testing, debugging, and code review. You should be able to demonstrate this live, with real examples of how it has made you more effectiveGood judgment on AI output: knowing when to trust it, how to verify it, and how to keep code quality, security, and maintainability highStrong proficiency in Java and the Spring / Spring Boot frameworkExperience designing and building REST, JSON, GraphQL, and SOAP APIs and integrationsSolid experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and DynamoDB, including data modeling and query performanceHands‑on experience with AWS, including EC2, S3, SNS, Secrets Manager, and CognitoExperience with authentication and authorization, including protocols such as SAML and PingFederateExperience with API design and testing (Postman, Swagger) and testing automation, including automated unit and integration testsExperience with Git and CI/CD tools (e.G. Experience with Node.Js.Containerization with Docker.DevOps tools and automation frameworks such as Ansible.Knowledge of monitoring tools such as CloudWatch and Datadog.Familiarity with a frontend framework such as Angular or React.Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.Experience with legacy‑to‑modern tech migrations.Position Type and Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full‑time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, during normal core business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.CompensationThe good faith compensation range for this role is $125,000 - $135,000 CAD annually. Compensation will be commensurate with experience. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.Other DutiesDuties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time according to business needs.The performance of additional responsibilities if you are designated as a Data Protection Champion (DPC), Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) or Information Assurance Accounting Officer (IAAO).This position operates in a professional office environment.
