Position Title: Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor (contract), Construction and Commissioning

Job Location: Southeastern British Columbia, BC

Employment Type: Contract (mid-June until December 31, 2026)

Rotational Schedule: Drive-in, Drive-out rotational schedule, 13 days on/8 days off

We are seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Supervisor on behalf of our client, a major Canadian mining company, to support the construction, commissioning, and startup of a major industrial water treatment plant being developed for a mining operation. The project is currently in the later stages of construction and transitioning into commissioning, creating an excellent opportunity for a hands-on supervisor with strong industrial construction and commissioning experience.

Reporting to the Construction Manager, the E&I Supervisor will be responsible for supporting the safe, timely, and quality execution of electrical and instrumentation construction activities, primarily through oversight and coordination of contractor work scopes. The successful candidate will play a key role in construction completion, turnover, commissioning readiness, and operational handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Champion a strong safety culture and promote a safe, respectful, and environmentally responsible worksite.
• Ensure contractors comply with established site safety requirements, work rules, and project procedures.
• Supervise and coordinate electrical and instrumentation construction activities performed by contractors and subcontractors.
• Monitor contractor performance and provide direction, feedback, issue resolution, and escalation as required.
• Support implementation of the Construction Management Plan, Quality Management Plan, and project execution strategy.
• Coordinate daily activities between construction, commissioning, operations, engineering, and project stakeholders.
• Monitor construction progress against project schedules and execution plans, providing timely reporting on status, risks, and issues.
• Facilitate coordination between contractors, operations personnel, and other project disciplines to ensure efficient execution.
• Maintain quality standards in accordance with project specifications, design documents, and established QA/QC requirements.
• Support system turnover, punch list management, walkdowns, deficiency resolution, and construction completion activities.
• Participate in pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, testing, and operational readiness activities.
• Verify construction readiness for energization, system testing, and handover to operations.
• Attend contractor safety meetings and toolbox talks, providing leadership, guidance, and feedback to the workforce.
• Identify opportunities to reduce safety and environmental risks throughout construction and commissioning activities.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Electrician, Electrical Engineering Technologist, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 8+ years of electrical and instrumentation experience on large industrial, mining, mineral processing, power generation, water treatment, or heavy infrastructure projects.
• Previous experience supervising E&I construction contractors on major capital projects.
• Demonstrated experience supporting construction completion, turnover, commissioning, and startup activities.
• Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems, MCCs, instrumentation, process controls, and industrial commissioning practices.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, loop drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and construction work packages.
• Proven experience managing contractor performance and coordinating multiple stakeholders in a dynamic construction environment.
• Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on, collaborative, and solution-oriented approach to project execution.

Preferred Experience

• Mining, mineral processing, or industrial water treatment facility projects.
• Brownfield and greenfield project experience within the resource sector.
• EPC or EPCM project delivery environments.
• PLC, SCADA, and industrial control system integration experience.
• Experience working at active mine sites and coordinating with operations teams.
• Exposure to construction quality management, testing, and turnover processes.
