Senior Software Asset Management Analyst

Overview

The Senior Software Asset Management (SAM) Analyst role is responsible for the management and optimisation of software assets throughout their lifecycle encompassing licence checks, maintenance, utilisation monitoring and ongoing governance of software applications. The role provides subject matter expertise on general software and drives continuous improvement, partnering closely with the Application Portfolio, Lifecycle and Delivery teams as well as Procurement, Security and Business Partners.

Your role

• Manage the full software asset lifecycle, including requests, licence validation/checks, deployments, consumption analysis, optimisation and renewals.
• Lead a specialised work group, distributing work activities and serving as the escalation point for licence-related questions and issues.
• Oversee the allocation and prioritisation of software asset management tickets across the team, proactively following up on progress, removing blockers, and ensuring timely resolution in line with service level agreements and team objectives.
• Analyse software deployments and consumption to identify optimisation opportunities and cost savings.
• Provide subject matter expertise on software applications and licensing to support contract negotiations and purchasing decisions.
• Produce reports on licence positions and present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate software entitlement and inventory records in the Flexera licence management tool.
• Monitor software maintenance, subscriptions and support agreements.
• Manage catalogue and cost recovery processes for packaged software applications.
• Support procurement (and surrounding processes) by performing goods receipting on software purchases.
• Support software publisher audits and verification exercises.
• Review software asset management processes to ensure they are up-to-date, identifying opportunities to improve via control and automation.
• Ensure 100% customer satisfaction and client focus.
• Manage incidents and requests according to defined SLAs and ensure 100% adherence to best practice guidelines.

About you

• Qualification in Software Asset Management.
• ITIL V4 Foundation Accreditation.
• Bilingualism (French and English)*
• At least 3 years' experience working within an ITIL-aligned Service Management organisation.
• Minimum 3 years' experience working in a senior role in Software Asset Management.
• Experience implementing process change.
• Experience with the Flexera licence management tool.
• Proven experience in data analysis with strong numeracy, analytical and reporting skills.
• Supplier relationship experience.
• High level of proficiency and knowledge of IT Asset Management and enterprise procurement processes.
• Understanding of audits and policies.
• Working knowledge of ServiceNow.
• Excellent analytical and communication (both verbal and written) skills.

* Member of the Canadian or Global Leadership Team: This position requires knowledge of a language other than French, namely English, as it involves collaboration with members of the Canadian or global leadership team located outside Québec.
