Remote 3D Groom Consultant: Paw Patrol

If you have a passion for creating high quality fur, you might be our next 3D Groom Consultant! 

Responsibilities:

• Assist with overall character look development processes and proactively propose efficiencies and solutions


• Guide and advise other teammates in different work flows (topology, texturing, surfacing and uv’ing) to support groomed character development


• Create the base look for the fur, hair, and/or feathers on established and new CG characters


• Ability to direct and work with Groom team on best practices for Groom optimization and efficient rendering


• Collaborate with other departments to ensure Groom functionality within character rigs


• UV / Texture / Develop Shaders to be used in Shot Production


• Demonstrate an ability to meet deadlines and communicate to production any possible delays


• Ability to communicate creatively and technically with both Asset and Shot Department teammates


• Prepare the approved groom for animation rigging.


• Prepare the approved groom for simulation, including and not limited to creating the fur simulation rig for the asset.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in feature film or animation production


• Strong knowledge of Houdini Hair / Fur and Xgen


• Strong knowledge of Houdini and Solaris is an asset


• Strong knowledge of Shading Networks with hair and fur


• Ability to bid CG Character Groom work


• Must be able to execute grooms to match a desired look or style


• Have a high level of attention to detail and create appealing characters


• Ability to receive critical feedback


• Creatively and technically problem solve


• Familiarity with Flow Production Tracking (Shotgrid)


• Experience with Python scripting


• Procedurally groom hair and fur using XGen, Ornatrix and Yeti is a plus

Length of Contract:

• Please note this is a short-term Remote Contract open to Ontario-only residents
