THE IMPACT OF THIS ROLE 

The General Accountant is responsible for managing the daily cash flow of the hotel, ensuring the proper handling of cash transactions, and overseeing payroll processing. This role requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and compliance with financial policies and procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Handles all cash collections, deposits, and disbursements in a secure and organized manner.
• Performs daily cash counts and reconciles cash holdings against system reports.
• Prepares daily bank deposits and maintains accurate records of cash transactions.
• Monitors and maintains adequate change funds for operational needs.
• Ensures compliance with cash-handling policies and internal controls.
• Works closely with Front Office and other departments to resolve any cash-related discrepancies.
• Processes payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with company policies and labor regulations.
• Maintains payroll records, including timesheets, attendance, and leave management.
• Coordinates with HR to ensure employee details, salary changes, and deductions are updated.
• Handles payroll-related queries from employees and resolves discrepancies.
• Ensures confidentiality and security of all payroll data.

CRITICAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS 

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role, preferably in the hospitality industry.
• Strong understanding of payroll processing, taxation, and cash handling procedures.
• Proficiency in accounting and payroll software.
• Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
