Senior Engineering Manager, Agent Platform & Growth

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager, Agent Platform & Growth based in Canada. This is a senior engineering leadership role focused on shaping how developers and AI agents discover, adopt, and use a modern cloud platform. You will lead two engineering teams spanning human onboarding and activation as well as agent-facing platform experiences. The role combines people leadership, product thinking, technical direction, and hands-on engineering judgment. You will own the self-serve customer journey from first touch through activation, monetization, expansion, and broader product adoption. At the same time, you will help build APIs, SDKs, CLIs, MCP integrations, and other interfaces that enable AI agents to operate programmatically. You’ll work closely with Product and Design while balancing near-term growth opportunities with durable platform investments. Accountabilities - Lead and grow two engineering teams responsible for human onboarding and activation and agent-facing platform experiences, maintaining clear missions and focus as the organization scales. - Own the engineering roadmap for the self-serve journey, covering initial discovery, onboarding, activation, monetization, usage expansion, feature adoption, and progression to product-qualified leads. - Drive development of agent-facing experiences through programmatic interfaces including APIs, SDKs, CLI tooling, MCP integrations, and infrastructure blueprints. - Partner closely with Product and Design to align technical roadmaps with customer needs, platform capabilities, and growth objectives.

- Hire, coach, develop, and retain engineers while establishing effective performance management and career-development practices, particularly for senior individual contributors. - Provide technical leadership through architecture decisions, design reviews, code reviews, prototyping, and hands-on contribution when valuable to the teams. - Balance long-term platform architecture and scalability with iterative improvements to onboarding, activation, and product adoption. - Build organizational structure and operating practices that support continued team growth, including evolving responsibilities as the engineering organization expands. - Establish a culture of high engineering standards, ownership, collaboration, continuous learning, and constructive feedback. Requirements - Significant experience leading engineering teams, with strong people leadership and a demonstrated ability to build, scale, and develop multiple teams. - Proven experience growing an engineering organization from a relatively small group into a larger structure, including hiring, team development, and organizational evolution. - Experience managing and developing senior engineers, including performance management, career planning, feedback, and promotion processes. - Strong software engineering background with enough technical depth to review code, guide architecture, prototype solutions, and contribute directly when needed. - Experience connecting engineering investments to product outcomes, particularly customer growth, onboarding, activation, adoption, or monetization. - Strong product instincts and the ability to work effectively with Product and Design partners without taking over their responsibilities. - Comfort operating in ambiguous, rapidly changing environments where priorities evolve and teams need to make decisions with incomplete information. - Experience working in startup or high-growth technology environments is valuable, particularly where speed, ownership, and adaptability are important.
