Social Impact Lead – Full-time

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Carrying on the tradition of Indigenous inclusion and capacity building, the Social Impact Lead will contribute to the internal culture and overall mission of Manitobah. Elevating community impact, building on Indigenous awareness, and introducing authentic Indigenous creations will be at the forefront of the role. Reporting to the CEO, this position manages Manitobah’s community and stakeholder engagement, drives the day-to-day project management of social impact activities, and keeps company-wide initiatives aligned with our mission, values, and social impact commitments.
This role is designated for an Indigenous candidate.

LOCATION
This position is hybrid/remote. The incumbent will be required to report to our Headquarters, located at The Forks in Winnipeg, Manitoba as directed.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS

Key Relationships: Indigenous artisans and communities, internal and external stakeholders
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the CEO, the incumbent manages projects and coordinates activities across all areas related to Manitobah’s social impact and values. Specifically, the Social Impact Lead:
• Plans, implements, and delivers social impact initiatives and projects that strengthen and grow Manitobah’s social impact portfolio, in alignment with the organization’s mission.
• Sets Social Impact priorities and defines objective measures with the CEO for each priority; establishes regular reporting intervals for impact progress and provides regular status updates.
• Advises senior management with best practices in corporate social impact approaches and helps coordinate ESG measures and reporting in support of maintaining B-Corp certification.
WE’RE HIRING!
• Serves as artist relations primary contact for Indigenous artisans and engages with them positively, respectfully, and in a culturally safe manner.
• Builds and maintains trusting relationships with artisans, supports them through the submission, review, and collaboration process, ensures fair and transparent practices, and safeguards the authenticity and integrity of Indigenous creations and the artisans’ cultural and intellectual property.
• Manages and executes operational and administrative duties related to the Indigenous Market as well as external beneficiaries such as the Storyboot School, Universities, and scholarship recipients.
• Engages, influences, partners and collaborates with Indigenous communities and businesses to improve impact of resources aligned to the company’s Social Impact objectives.

• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team to help create a culturally safe environment for Indigenous peoples that fosters a spirit of inclusivity and diversity
• Communicates effectively both orally and in writing while demonstrating a strong attention to detail
• Identifies, designs, and continuously improves processes and workflows to strengthen the efficiency, consistency, and scalability of social impact programs
• Strong understanding of project management principles to plan, schedule, track, and deliver initiatives on time and on scope

QUALIFICATIONS
Professional Experience:
• Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience with a combination of research, advocacy, administration, and project management is required
• Minimum 2 years of program or community development, or related experience, is an asset
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects with budget targets is required
Educational Requirements:
• Completion of a related post-secondary diploma, such as Business Administration, Social Innovation, Community Development, Indigenous studies, or other relevant field, is required
• In-depth understanding of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls-to-Action (TRC) and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) is required
• Formal training on Indigenous histories, cultures, knowledges, governance structures, and laws is an asset
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Work in an office environment; long periods at a desk, reading lengthy documents, and time in front of a computer is required
• Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable vehicle for travel within Manitoba
• Ability to travel within Canada and internationally; a valid passport, or the ability to obtain one, is required
