Compensation: $140,000 – $190,000 base + LOA + accommodations + meals + benefits

We are seeking an experienced Civil Superintendent with a strong background in deep excavation, underground utilities, road construction, sewer and watermain projects. This role is ideal for a hands-on field leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, understands complex civil scopes, and takes pride in delivering projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

The position offers a 21 days on / 7 days off rotation for out-of-town projects, with accommodations, meals, and additional LOA fully provided.

The Role

As the Civil Superintendent, you will lead all on-site construction activities for heavy civil infrastructure projects involving deep excavation, underground utilities, roadworks, and related scopes.

You will work closely with Project Managers, Foremen, subcontractors, consultants, and field crews to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with schedule and quality expectations.

This role requires a strong field presence, leadership capability, and the ability to coordinate multiple crews and project activities simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily site operations on heavy civil infrastructure projects
  • Manage crews, subcontractors, and field coordination activities
  • Oversee deep excavation, shoring, sewer, watermain, grading, and road construction scopes
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within productivity targets
  • Coordinate equipment, manpower, materials, and subcontractor sequencing
  • Conduct site meetings, safety talks, and daily planning sessions
  • Monitor project progress and proactively address field issues
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, and quality standards
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers and office teams on schedules and logistics
  • Maintain strong health & safety practices and enforce site compliance
  • Build positive working relationships with inspectors, consultants, municipalities, and project stakeholders
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, and look-ahead coordination

Who You Are

  • 8+ years of Superintendent experience in heavy civil construction
  • Strong experience with:
    • Deep excavation
    • Sewer & watermain installation
    • Underground utilities
    • Road construction and grading
    • Large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Proven ability to lead crews and maintain productivity in complex field environments
  • Strong understanding of civil construction sequencing and site logistics
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Safety-focused with strong knowledge of Ontario construction safety standards
  • Able to work rotational schedules and travel for project assignments
  • Organized, accountable, and highly solution-oriented
  • Experience working on municipal, infrastructure, transit, or industrial civil projects is considered a strong asset
