Competition #13-2025 POSITION: PLANNER HOURS OF WORK: Full Time (37.5 hours per week) HOURLY RATE: $41.43/hour as per Collective Agreement START DATE: As soon as possible DUTIES: Reporting to the Manager of Planning and Sustainability, the Planner supports the department by conducting research and analysis relating to departmental and corporate priorities; researching, drafting and implementing bylaws, policies and programs relating to community planning and sustainability reviewing land use and development proposals; preparing reports and recommendations regarding development applications; and providing professional and technical advice to customers inside and outside the organization. The successful candidate must have a thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and objectives of community planning, urban design, brownfield redevelopment, active transportation, and climate adaptation and mitigation. S/he will also be familiar with statutory requirements, bylaws, and procedures applicable to municipal planning and development. Proficient skills in MS Office and use of Geographic Information Systems. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Must have completed an under graduate degree in Planning, Geography or a related discipline. LICENSES/CERTIFICATES: Membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners or candidate status on track to attain full membership, and a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years' experience in municipal planning or similar field. Work experience in a BC municipal setting is preferred. Qualifications must be outlined with verifications of education/certification attached.
