Complex Games Inc, Frontier is an independent, award-winning developer and publisher of immersive simulation games. We seek an experienced Animator to join our team in Cambridge. If you are passionate about crafting compelling character and creature animation that elevates gameplay and storytelling, we invite you to apply.
Your Contribution
You will be a core contributor, translating creative vision into polished, game-ready animation assets, working within our proprietary engine and collaborating across all creative and technical disciplines.
What You’ll Be Doing (Key Responsibilities)
Focus AreaTask Details
Animation CraftCreate high-quality, expressive character and creature animations using Maya .
ImplementationImplement and validate animations into our proprietary Cobra engine , ensuring minimal bugs.
Creative DirectionTake direction from the Lead Animator and Game Director to realize the creative vision.
CollaborationWork seamlessly with Character Art, Code, Design, and VFX teams.
Team SupportContribute to knowledge sharing, provide feedback to external partners, and support junior team members.

ExperienceProven track record producing high-quality animation assets for games.
Software MasteryStrong proficiency in Maya’s character animation tools.
FundamentalsExcellent understanding of body mechanics, posing, timing, and acting choices.
SpecializationExpertise in creature animation and creating believable movement.
Technical PipelineFamiliarity with animation state machines and versioning software (SVN, Perforce).
Soft SkillsStrong time management, communication, and basic knowledge of rigging pipelines.
Bonus Skills
- Experience with external animation behaviour tree software (e.g., Havok, Unity, Unreal).
- Scripting knowledge ( Python, MEL ).
- Experience mentoring or training junior animators.
