This posting will be used to fill 1 term full-time position working 75 hours bi-weekly, starting as soon as able, and ending June 1, 2028. It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill future similar term and perm positions.

Our team

The Government of Yukon's Mental Wellness and Substance Use Services branch (MWSU) is known for its innovative, holistic, trauma informed and culturally accessible approach to providing mental health and substance use supports to all Yukoners.

The Child, Youth and Family Therapeutics Team is a team that operates within MWSU and aim to provide a range of individual, group and family counselling and support services to school-aged children, youth and families in the Yukon.

Your role

Reporting to the Manager, Mental Wellness Substance Use (MWSU) – Counselling Services, the Clinical Supervisor, Child-Youth-Family Therapeutics Team (CYFTT), is responsible for the integrated administrative oversight, clinical supervision, and coordination of day-to-day operations to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery. The role supports a multidisciplinary team, including clinicians, a registered nurse, child and youth engagement workers, and support staff, through a combination of clinical guidance and operational management.

This term Clinical Supervisor position offers the opportunity to play a meaningful leadership role in shaping how young people and families experience support. Your focus will be to provide administrative oversight for the implementation, evaluation and delivery of key services. Success in the role looks like building and maintaining strong working relationships with schools and community partners. You will be responsible for program oversight such as therapeutic group development, outreach groups, the family systems pathway and youth outreach clinic, and will ensure alignment with program objectives, professional standards, and organizational priorities. While still supporting clinical supervision, other key responsibilities will include staffing coordination, scheduling, workload distribution, and leading effective team functioning and service flow. The role also supports file audits, and quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives while working collaboratively with MWSU leadership, internal program areas, and territorial stakeholders.

Essential qualifications

• Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Worker, Counselling, or other related disciplines; relevant clinical PhDs may also be considered;
• Current or eligibility for registration with a relevant Canadian accredited professional body;
• Experience with administration in a health care setting (e.g. program development, evaluation, quality improvement work, HR management, etc.);
• Experience providing supervision to a multidisciplinary clinical team and delivery of programs, preferably with a focus on child, youth and family or in a community context;
• Experience building and sustaining relationships with First Nations Government Partners, non-governments and other community partners to promote a collaborative approach to service delivery in a community context.

• Experience working with an electronic medical record system;
• Experience with evidence-based and data-driven decision making, especially in regard to providing clinical direction on caseload management;
• Ability to provide clinical consultation and support to the team;
• Ability to build, foster and manage collaborative and cooperative working relationships with colleagues, staff and people we serve;
• Ability to support the public service to improve health care delivery through staff engagement, relationship building, community engagement, quality assurance and reconciliation.

Conditions of employment

You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted:

• Verification of post-secondary Masters degree in either Social Work, Counselling, and Psychology or other related disciplines;
• Current registration with a relevant Canadian accredited professional body;
• RCMP Security Clearance with Vulnerable Sector;
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence (or equivalent);
• TB Screening;
• WHMIS 2015 (within 1 month of hire).

This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:

• Regular exposure to clients of all ages and families experiencing complex trauma, mental health challenges, substance use, and dysfunctional or abusive family dynamics;
• Work frequently involves crisis response and interaction with distressed, emotionally dysregulated, suicidal, or hostile individuals, with potential exposure to verbal and/or physical aggression and high-conflict situations involving clients, families, and partner agencies;
• Workplace stresses arise from supervising clinicians who may also be experiencing issues of life crisis (i.e. serious illness, suicide, death, violence, relationship breakdowns, etc.) or be impacted by vicarious trauma or the acute danger client’s may be at risk of;
• The position may be required to work afterhours working in collaboration with NGO’s and community led initiatives;
• The position is office-based, with the primary workspace being at the CYFTT office. Will require meetings with professionals in other offices so travel may be necessary. There are long periods of time at a computer terminal;
• Position requires incumbent to be able to lift 50 lbs and work in active environment. Will be exposed to wilderness elements and may work outdoors.
