Position Summary

As the Specialist, Data Analytics, Internal Audit, you will lead the development of a scalable, risk-based data analytics capability within the Internal Audit department. You will have full ownership of the analytics strategy, standards, reusable solutions, and continuous monitoring processes during the contract period.

Your primary focus will be designing and implementing scalable, repeatable approaches that can be seamlessly applied across various audits. You will drive departmental adoption through coaching, training, and influential leadership, enabling auditors to embed data analytics natively into their daily workflows.

Key Responsibilities

1. Data Analytics Strategy & Practice Leadership
   • Define and initiate the execution of a comprehensive Data Analytics (DA) strategy and multi-year roadmap aligned directly with audit and risk priorities.
   • Establish foundational analytics methodologies, quality standards, and overall governance frameworks.
   • Identify and prioritize high-value, risk-based analytics use cases across the organization.
   • Set clear departmental expectations for integrating analytics directly into audit engagements.
2. Scalable & Reusable Analytics Solutions
   • Design, build, and maintain a foundational library of reusable analytics components, including scripts, tests, dashboards, and templates.
   • Introduce standardized solutions specifically designed to reduce the department's reliance on ad hoc, one-off analyses.
   • Establish rigorous documentation and structuring protocols to ensure all analytics models are auditable, reproducible, and transferable.
3. Embedded Analytics in Audit Delivery
   • Embed advanced analytics tightly into audit planning, testing, and reporting approaches.
   • Enable audit teams to conduct population-level testing and complex trend analysis where appropriate.
   • Partner closely with audit teams to translate complex data analytics outputs into clear, actionable business insights.
4. Continuous Auditing & Monitoring
   • Design and implement tailored continuous auditing and monitoring approaches across selected high-risk areas.
   • Develop automated workflows for recurring audit procedures and operational reporting.
   • Deploy initial dashboards to support continuous risk visibility and surface overarching thematic insights.
5. Enablement, Coaching & Influential Leadership
   • Build foundational technical capabilities within the existing audit team through active coaching and hands-on support.
   • Deliver targeted training sessions, technical tools, and practical job aids to ensure a consistent application of analytics.
   • Actively promote adoption, trust, and confidence in data tools across all active engagements.
6. Data Governance, Access & Quality
   • Establish foundational processes governing data access, appropriate usage, privacy protection, and historical traceability.
   • Define and apply strict, audit-aligned expectations for data quality, including data lineage, underlying assumptions, and automated controls.
   • Collaborate closely with enterprise data and technology stakeholders to clear bottlenecks and secure reliable access to necessary datasets.

Skill & Qualification Requirements

Mandatory Requirements

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or technical field, such as Computer Science, Data Science / Analytics, Statistics / Mathematics, Engineering, or Information Systems.
• Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of advanced, hands-on experience in data analytics, automation, or continuous monitoring contextually within an audit, risk management, or technology assurance environment.

Core Technical & Professional Competencies

• Scalable Solution Design: Demonstrated ability to build, design, and deploy scalable analytics solutions and repeatable frameworks rather than merely executing independent analyses.
• Influential Leadership: Proven experience leading initiatives through influence, including coaching, guiding, and mentoring senior business professionals or stakeholders without possessing direct reporting authority.
• Audit Expertise: Strong foundational understanding of technical risks, internal controls, and standard audit methodologies, alongside the ability to apply these effectively within data-driven audit engagements.
• Governance & Quality Control: Solid experience establishing analytics governance, standards, and data integrity controls to ensure complete consistency across analytical initiatives.
• Communication Skills: Exceptional communication abilities, with a proven track record of translating complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for both technical teams and non-technical senior management.

Preferred Assets

• Advanced Education: A Master’s degree (e.g., MSc in Data Science / Analytics, MSc in Statistics / Applied Math, Master's in Information Systems / BI, or an MBA with a Data Science concentration).
• Professional Certifications: Relevant industry certifications, such as Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) or Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP).
