THE OPPORTUNITY At BBE International, we are a leading logistics and freight forwarding company with a global reach and a local touch. Our team in Edmonton is expanding, and we're seeking a motivated and experienced International Freight Forwarder to join us full-time.
The International Freight Forwarder is responsible for coordinating the efficient and timely movement of international shipments, ensuring compliance with global trade regulations, and providing exceptional customer service to clients. This role requires a strong understanding of international logistics, customs regulations, and documentation requirements. ORGANIZATIONAL PROFILE We have been shipping products, equipment, and supplies since 1977, four decades of unwavering commitment and knowledge. RESPONSIBILITIES - Coordinate air, ocean, and ground international shipments from origin to destination.
- Prepare and review documentation (e.g., bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin).
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, including customs requirements.
- Liaise with carriers, agents, customs brokers, and clients to ensure smooth shipment handling.
- Track shipments and provide timely updates to clients and stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any shipping issues or delays.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through professional and responsive communication.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in internal systems.
CORPORATE COMPLIANCE DUTIES - Actively participate in QHSETR programs and systems.
- Contribute to and foster transparent, direct communication, education, and customer service enhancement with the operations team and clients.
- Ensure that file details and supporting documentation facilitate efficient handovers to Operations and Accounting.
- Contribute to BBE's continuous improvement and organizational efficiency goals.
QUALIFICATIONS - Minimum 2 years of experience in international freight forwarding (air and/or ocean).
- Knowledge of Incoterms, customs regulations, and trade compliance.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Fluent in English. A second language is an asset.
- Proficient in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Previous experience with Cargo Wise preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- CIFFA or other industry certification is an asset.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
