Mental Health Navigator

Reporting directly to the Wellness Prevention Supervisor, this position provides client-centered support to individuals accessing mental health and addiction services. This Mental Health Navigator focuses on helping individuals identify their needs, navigate available services, reduce barriers to care, and improve overall wellbeing through culturally safe, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approaches.  This position supports clients and their families navigate through and understand their rights in the various mental health and addictions systems, including the courts and health systems. This includes an understanding of the Saskatchewan Mental Health legislation and the Compassionate Intervention Act.

Qualification and Experience:
A minimum of a bachelors degree in Social Work, Psychiatric Nursing, or other comparable discipline with related experience
A minimum of two (2) years experience working with marginalized populations affected by addictions in a health-related field
Knowledge of the Chronic Disease Management and behaviour change models, addictions, harm reduction theory, teaching/learning principles and motivational interviewing.
Demonstrated counselling theories and skills and ability to develop therapeutic relationships and support clients in meeting their goals.
Demonstrated knowledge of community resources and programming supportive of this client population
Demonstrated performance of appropriate documentation, record keeping and data collection functions
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of traditional Indigenous values, beliefs and healing approaches and a willingness to learn about and accept First Nations cultures.
Incumbent is self-directed and requires minimal supervision.
Incumbent can demonstrate agency values in the work they do daily with BRT6HC First Nations communities, clients, co-workers and partnering agencies.
