Construction Insurance Underwriting Manager

Shape retention and profitable growth for construction accounts as an Underwriting Manager in downtown Toronto’s hybrid commercial insurance environment.In this people-first leadership role, you will lead six to ten underwriters serving the mid-market segment. Your focus includes construction and contracting portfolios, full-cycle underwriting, broker collaboration, and technical guidance. You will report to a Director while partnering with Actuarial, Claims, and other internal teams.Key Responsibilities:
Steward construction and contracting accounts focused on retentionLead technical decisions across the underwriting teamEvaluate, select, negotiate, price, and document accountsBuild strong broker relationships through regular in-person meetingsCollaborate with Actuarial, Claims, and internal partnersRequirements:
Proven people leadership with two-plus years’ experienceMid-market construction and contracting underwriting backgroundCommercial package knowledge including property and CGLCOC designation or experience considered an assetCompleted or in-progress CIP, FCIP, or equivalentBring construction underwriting depth, technical judgment, and leadership experience to a portfolio-focused commercial insurance team.
