Job Description

Position Summary
The Research Assistant supports the Centre for Institutional Analytics & Planning (CIAP) in the collection, management, analysis and reporting of institutional and research data. Working closely with the CIAP team, the Research Assistant will contribute to student surveys and course feedback, institutional reporting, labour market and employment analyses, research and environmental scans, data requests, and documentation of key CIAP processes. The role requires strong analytical, organizational and communication skills and careful handling of confidential and sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Support the administration, promotion, tracking and reporting of institutional surveys and feedback initiatives, including course feedback, end-of-clinical-cycle surveys and the Student Experience Survey.
• Calculate and monitor survey response rates; coordinate communications and in-class promotion activities; support prize draws and other response-rate initiatives; and prepare standardized reports for internal stakeholders.
• Clean, organize, analyze and summarize quantitative and qualitative data, and prepare clear tables, charts, written summaries and other materials to support institutional planning and decision-making.
• Support institutional research and evaluation projects through literature reviews, environmental scans, data collection, data management, descriptive analyses and preparation of research materials and reports.
• Conduct labour market and employment analyses, including literature and environmental scans and verification of graduate employment information using regulatory college and professional sources.
• Respond to routine and ad hoc data requests by retrieving and validating information from existing institutional records and datasets.
• Support the development and maintenance of dashboards, recurring reports and other institutional analytics products, including quality assurance and validation of data and outputs.
• Draft and update standard operating procedures and process documentation; maintain reporting calendars, project/task trackers and action-item logs; and flag upcoming deliverables and follow-up requirements.
• Maintain organized, secure records and datasets in accordance with institutional privacy, confidentiality and data-governance requirements.
• Collaborate with CIAP colleagues and stakeholders across Michener and UHN and provide project coordination and research support as required.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline such as health sciences, social sciences, education, research methodology, statistics or a related field; graduate-level training is an asset.
• Training or demonstrated experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods, data analysis and interpretation.
• Experience working with Microsoft Excel for data management and analysis; experience with statistical or analytics software (e.g., SPSS, R, Power BI or similar tools) is an asset.
• Experience with survey administration, program evaluation, institutional research, quality improvement or applied research is an asset.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with demonstrated attention to accuracy, detail and quality assurance.
• Strong written communication skills, including the ability to synthesize literature, data and qualitative information into concise, accessible summaries and reports.
• Excellent organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage recurring deliverables and multiple priorities.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team and with stakeholders across the organization.
• Sound judgment and discretion when working with confidential, sensitive or potentially identifying information.
