The University of Lethbridge Faculty of Fine Arts is accepting applications for two Theatre Technical Staff positions. Both positions are 0.67 FTE, AUPE 10, with full-time work expected from September through April. Both positions would begin September 1, 2026. One position will be continuing; one position will be an 8-month term concluding approximately April 30, 2027.

Both positions require candidates that are versatile enough to step into other theatre production roles as needed. The successful candidates for both positions will provide curricular support and be able to provide informal feedback to students about production tasks. Both positions require the safe and effective operation of facilities and maintenance of equipment.

One position will support scenic construction, carpentry, and props needs for Drama and Music productions. This position will help maintain facilities and equipment utilized in the building and storage of scenery and props.

The second position will support the costuming and props needs of Drama and Music productions, and maintain facilities and equipment utilized in the construction and storage of costumes and props.

Alternatively, applicants may indicate that they would like to be considered for both positions and types of appointment. Core Qualifications (Applicable to Both Positions)

• 3 year diploma or undergraduate degree in technical theatre or related field.
• An awareness and understanding of Alberta Safe Stages practices.
• Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to effectively balance multiple priorities while maintaining a positive outlook and working effectively in a collaborative environment.
• Ability to estimate material costs, maintain project records, and follow production budget(s).
• Strong mentorship and collaboration skills.
• Ability to use initiative to organize and follow through with complex tasks to meet deadlines.
• Ability to establish working relationships, professional rapport and effectively accomplish work withing a university setting that includes a wide array of individuals, groups, policies and processes.
• The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
• A valid unrestricted Class 5 Driver’s License with no more than 6 demerits and submission of a motor vehicle record (driver abstract) dated within 3 months of the posting close is required.

Additional Qualifications: Scene Shop

• First Aid, WHIMIS certification.
• Fall Arrest, Arial Lift Training, Possession & Acquisitions License (PAL), Food Safety Certificate are considered assets
• Ability to interpret set design drawings, with preference for candidates with intermediate CAD drafting skills.
• Experience with all areas of scenic construction, including intermediate carpentry skills, scenic paint skills.
• Ability to install, maintain, and strike complex sets.
• Experience with one or more of props construction, costume construction and sewing, lighting, sound or projection operations is an asset.

Additional Qualifications: Costume Shop

• Experience with all stages of the costume design and construction process, including fitting and altering of costumes for stage needs
• Strong pattern drafting, cutting and draping skills.
• Knowledge of how to work with various fabrics, dyeing, and surface design techniques.
• Strong building and construction skills, including knowledge of mask making, adhesives, and paints.
• Experience with one or more of props construction, costume construction and sewing, lighting, sound or projection operations is an asset.
