Electrical Construction Coordinator

Help run the electrical scope on real industrial and commercial builds — from award through commissioning and closeout — as part of the project leadership team, not the paperwork pile. Gardner Electric is hiring an Electrical Construction Coordinator to own the drawings, RFIs, schedules, and long-lead equipment that keep our Maritime projects moving.

We're an electrical contractor delivering commercial and industrial work across the Maritimes. This role is based out of our Saint John office, with occasional site visits as projects require.

Is this you?

This is a technical electrical role — not a general project-coordination or admin role. You'll do well here if you come from an electrical technology background, can open a set of drawings and immediately know what you're looking at, and like owning the details that keep a job on schedule and on budget. If your coordination experience is general or administrative without the electrical grounding, this probably isn't the right fit — and that's okay.

What you'll do

• Coordinate electrical scope on commercial and industrial projects from pre-construction through commissioning and closeout

• Review drawings, specifications, and submittals — and flag issues before they hit the field

• Manage RFIs, change orders, and field directives; keep them moving and properly documented

• Build and maintain project schedules alongside project managers, foremen, and general contractors

• Track long-lead equipment (switchgear, transformers, MCCs, large cable orders) and stay ahead of delivery risk

• Coordinate with engineers, GCs, sub-trades, and the utility to keep work fronts open

• Support estimating with takeoffs, vendor pricing, and scope reviews as needed

• Help prepare closeout packages: red-lines, O&M manuals, commissioning records, warranty documentation

What you need

• An electrical engineering technology background — an NBCC electrical engineering technology diploma (or equivalent), or comparable hands-on experience in the electrical field

• The ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, schematics, panel schedules, and specifications without hand-holding

• Working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and familiarity with relevant CSA standards

• Strong organization and the judgment to know what needs attention now versus next week

• Solid communication skills — you'll be the bridge between the office, the field, engineers, and clients

• A valid driver's license

Bonus points

• A CET designation, or eligibility and working toward one through NBSCETT (TGITs welcome)

• Experience with an electrical contractor or in construction project coordination

• Industrial project experience — motor controls, medium voltage, instrumentation

• Familiarity with Procore, Accubid, ConEst, or Bluebeam

• Strong Excel skills, and comfort picking up new software — including AI tools — to speed up routine drafting, summarizing, and document review
