Base31 is Prince Edward County's newest cultural destination, set on a 70-acre historic former WWII air training base just outside of Picton, Ontario. Purchased in 2021 by PEC Community Partners, the site has undergone an ambitious transformation, restoring heritage buildings, reimagining the landscape, and creating dynamic public spaces filled with art, live music, and exciting food and drink experiences.

Since opening in 2022, Base31 has become a thriving hub of creativity and culture, drawing visitors from across the region and beyond. The site has hosted hundreds of events, from large-scale festivals and concerts to intimate performances by Canada's top musicians. It has also introduced a bustling open-air food & drink market, immersive art experiences, after-dark adventures, and interactive programming. Visitors can explore galleries, escape rooms, outdoor play spaces, children's camps and arts programs, and curated group experiences, with culinary adventures and creative installations adding to its ever-evolving energy.

In 2025, a new exhibition hall will open, further celebrating the site's rich heritage and its impact on the local community, as well as on a national and global scale. Across Base31, visitors will have opportunities to engage with its history through guided tours, exhibitions, and interactive storytelling experiences that bring the past to life.

Looking ahead, Base31 will continue to evolve as a hub for creativity, heritage, food, and community, introducing fresh experiences and amenities that inspire play, discovery, relaxation, and connection, reflecting the distinct spirit of Prince Edward County. In the coming years, the surrounding area will also grow, with new rental and home ownership opportunities enhancing its vibrancy and appeal.

Type: Part-Time Salary: Hourly $27.5 per hour Reporting to: Manager, Program Administration Location: Picton, Ontario (on-site on evenings and weekends required) Start date: Mid June 2025 JOB SUMMARY The Event Camping Supervisor will be responsible for the on-site execution of Base31's event camping experience from June through until September, with a focus on creating a seamless and easeful experience for campers. Base31's event camping experience will allow folks to stay on-site in order to fully enjoy and engage with Base31's summer line up of events and experiences. This position will report to the Manager, Program Administration and will supervise a team of Event Camping Support Staff, all of which will be responsible for executing set-up, tear-down, parking, ticketing, visitor services and property maintenance. The position will also include weekly meetings with the Manager, Program Administration. Applicants must be willing to work evenings and weekends, be outdoors for long periods of time, and capable of thriving in a lively, festival-style atmosphere. Finally, this part-time position can be combined with other part-time positions at Base31 with other departments such as Food and Beverage, Visitor Services and Programming. RESPONSIBILITIES Manage the execution of Base31's event camping experience including but not limited to:
  • Supervise a small team of Event Camping Support Staff as well as be the main point of contact every weekend in order to ensure that event camping runs smoothly and that all tasks related to camping such as set-up, tear down, parking, ticketing, visitor services and property maintenance are being completed.
  • Acting as a concierge for the site, informing campers of other ongoing events and experiences taking place throughout the site, answering any questions and purchasing tickets on campers behalf for other activities.
  • Liaise with security, emergency responders, Base31 staff, and event organizers to ensure effective and professional camping management.
  • Review operational briefs created by the Manager, Program Administration before each weekend.
  • Lead the operational meetings with the Event Camping Support Staff prior to each shift.
  • Complete a report after every weekend and attend a post-season analysis.
  • Attend, provide feedback and offer solutions in weekly meetings.
  • Respond to risk management and/or emergency situations calmly and professionally.
  • Procure and maintain all first aid equipment.
  • Act as a positive representative of the organization in all conduct with external stakeholders.
  • Model and promote workplace culture that engenders respect and supports equity, diversity and inclusion and reflects Base31's company values.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Three (3) years of experience in a role related to Camping or Event Operations and/or Hospitality.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Calm, polite, and professional behavior who is reliable and self-motivated.
  • Ability to problem solve mindfully and methodically.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable with learning new technologies (ex. system to scan tickets).
  • A highly driven, detail-oriented approach to work.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to lift items up to 25-50 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
