$112,026.79 - $130,101.34

What’s YESAB?

The Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Board (YESAB) is an independent body established under the Umbrella Final Agreement and YESAA legislation in 2003. YESAB conducts environmental and socio-economic assessments of projects before they are approved by the governing body. Our purpose is to conduct neutral, timely, efficient, and effective environmental and socio-economic assessments in the Yukon.

Eligibility

• A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Socio-economic Studies, or a related field is preferred. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
• Strong knowledge of the Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Act , as well as Yukon First Nations and First Nations Agreements, is required.
• Strong technical experience in impact assessment, preferably in a northern context.
• Experience engaging Indigenous group representatives, government representatives, stakeholders, and other participants in the assessment process.

The Senior Assessment Advisor , reporting to the Assessment Director, will be a part of YESAB’s Assessment Unit. The Senior Assessment Advisor is responsible for:

• Providing briefings, advice, and recommendations to the Assessment Director on high-profile assessment projects, processes, and methods.
• Delegated powers of the designated office relating to evaluations. Responsible for all aspects of the assessment, including ensuring rules of natural justice and procedural fairness are followed, and that the assessment complies with legislation and rules, when delegated the powers of the designated office.
• Works closely with Assessment District Managers to ensure assessment deliverables reflect the assessment approaches adopted by YESAB and the Designated offices.
• Leading and facilitating the resolution of sensitive environmental, socio-economic, and political issues associated with project assessments.
• Consulting with subject matter experts, Yukon First Nation governments, and stakeholders on assessment methodologies.
• Leading training initiatives and onboarding for Assessment Unit staff.
• Ensuring documents issued by the Assessment Unit comply with YESAA , YESAA regulations, and YESAB Rules and guidance.
