Production Support Engineer with DBA

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Production Support Engineer with DBA based in Canada. This role combines production support engineering with Oracle database administration in a critical, fast-paced technology environment. You will help maintain the reliability, performance, and availability of production applications and databases across multiple platforms. The position covers Oracle administration, replication, middleware, Unix/Linux systems, batch processing, and production deployments. You will troubleshoot complex incidents, support releases, and coordinate database and application activities across interconnected systems. The role also involves capacity planning, performance tuning, security, and proactive operational support. Success requires strong technical troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to respond effectively during on-call and off-hours support. Accountabilities: - Monitor, administer, refresh, secure, and troubleshoot Oracle production databases, including capacity planning and performance optimization. - Support IBM CDC replication and maintain application schema metadata and related database processes. - Administer and troubleshoot JBOSS and WebLogic middleware environments. - Support production deployments, database links, tablespace validation, CDC coordination, and application restart activities. - Manage Unix/Linux environments, including shell and batch scripting, cron scheduling, and server migration activities. - Support RAD, ODS/Data Warehouse, and CHASE Paymentech batch processing. - Participate in incident management, PagerDuty response, on-call rotations, and off-hours production support. - Validate deployments during overnight and weekend release activities and help ensure production stability. - Coordinate release and deployment activities while troubleshooting issues across databases, middleware, applications, and infrastructure.

Requirements: - Strong experience in Oracle Database Administration in production environments. - Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux administration and shell or batch scripting. - Experience supporting IBM CDC replication and related database processes. - Knowledge of JBOSS and WebLogic middleware administration and troubleshooting. - Experience with production support, application deployments, release management, and incident resolution. - Strong understanding of database performance tuning, troubleshooting, capacity planning, and production reliability. - Experience with cron scheduling, batch processing, database links, tablespaces, and server migrations. - Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across interconnected application, database, middleware, and infrastructure environments. - Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. - Willingness and ability to participate in on-call, overnight, weekend, and other off-hours production support activities.
