Stores Inventory Coordinator

Under the general direction of the Supervisor of Stores, the Stores Inventory Coordinator is responsible for contract administration and the operational oversight and control of inventory systems and warehouse processes in support of Transit maintenance and service delivery. The position administers assigned contracts, oversees inventory management systems, monitors inventory lifecycle and financial exposure risks, and ensures inventory accuracy, data integrity, and compliance with established procedures.

The Stores Inventory Coordinator coordinates daily warehouse operations within delegated authority, assigns operational coverage, facilitates cross-functional alignment with procurement and maintenance, and identifies operational, inventory, and contract-related risks requiring mitigation. The role exercises defined decision-making authority in accordance with established policies and procedures and assumes delegated supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Supervisor to ensure operational continuity.

Your education and qualifications include

• Post-secondary education in supply chain management, business administration, logistics, or a related discipline.
• Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation through Supply Chain Canada (SCC), or active enrollment in the SCMP accreditation program, is required. The designation must be obtained within 36 months of employment with the City of Winnipeg.
• An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
• Minimum three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in inventory management, warehouse operations, or materials management environments.
• Experience supporting procurement or contract administration processes, including preparation of procurement documentation, bid solicitations, contract documentation, or coordination with suppliers.
• Experience working with inventory management or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems within a warehouse or materials management environment, including item master administration, system controls, reporting functions, and maintaining data integrity.
• Experience working in a public sector or unionized environment is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of inventory control principles, including inventory lifecycle management, cycle counting, reconciliation practices, and maintaining inventory accuracy.
• Ability to analyze inventory and operational performance data, including consumption patterns, valuation trends, shrinkage exposure, and contract performance indicators.
• Ability to identify operational, inventory, or contract-related risks and develop practical mitigation recommendations.
• Ability to coordinate warehouse operations and workflow, including organizing work assignments, supporting cross-training initiatives, and maintaining operational service levels.
• Ability to prepare clear administrative reports, documentation, and operational summaries to support operational review and approval processes.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills, including the ability to perform inventory calculations, variance analysis, reconciliation reviews, and data validation with accuracy.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Working level Qualifications some may be acquired after starting:
• Knowledge and competency with City of Winnipeg goods and services procurement policies, procedures and practices and tendering requirements (within 3 months).
• Knowledge and competency with processing steps of applicable Departmental, Corporate and Materials Management documentation related to the position (Bid Ops, Extensions, Over-Expenditure, Financial Impact, Breach of Contract, Admin Approvals, etc.) (within 6 months).
• Knowledge and competency of Plant & Equipment Division¿s MMIS software (Materials Management Information System) (within 6 months).

• IMPORTANT : Applicants who have been educated outside of Canada must have education which is comparable to the minimum qualification in Canada. • Must be physically capable of performing the routine manual labour components of the position, which may include but are not limited to: frequent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, climbing, balancing, and lifting up to 25lbs.
• Must be able to work in an environment involving exposure to dust, noise, water, cleaning supplies, extreme temperature/weather and diesel exhaust fumes.
