- # Principal Engineer - MechanicalApply: CA.ON.Mississauga.2251 Speakman Drive: Full time: Posted Today: End Date: December 31, 2026 (30+ days left to apply): R-164145### **Job Description**## **Overview**AtkinsRéalis is looking to hire a Senior Mechanical Engineer. This position requires experienced individuals who are self-starter capable of working independently and leading/supervising junior engineers. The individuals will work in a fast-paced team environment performing engineering services for Nuclear Power Plants within a matrix organization.## **Your role*** Prepare and review design basis documents for both nuclear and conventional systems of the nuclear power station e.g. design specification, over-pressure protection reports and design reports, Drawings, BOMs, SCL, etc.* Oversee the preparation of Mechanical and Piping Structures, Systems, and Components (SSCs) Design Packages from Conceptual Design to Available For Service (AFS) and Close Out.* Train, mentor and provide technical guidance to junior staff.* Support Engineering Management with timely updates on engineering progress, performance and staffing needs.* Directly interface with Customer’s engineering representatives.* Ensure that applicable standards and regulatory requirements and met.## **About you***Required qualifications:** Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience (minimum 10 years in the nuclear industry).* Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, and member in good standing. o Working knowledge of pressure boundary codes and standards, including CSA N285.0, ASME Section III Division 1 and ASME B31.1.* Experience in power plant equipment, including but not limited to equipment in the Nuclear Island, Turbine Island, Balance of Plant, Auxiliary Systems (HVAC, Compressed Air Systems, Water Systems, Chillers, etc.).* Qualified Specialized Professional Engineer to ASME Section III, Div.1, Appendix XXIII or qualified for certification.* Experience interfacing with CNSC and TSSA including preparing correspondence letters, TSSA registration and re-conciliation packages, code classifications and memos.* Excellent written and oral communication skills.* Results-driven individual with strong interpersonal skills that thrives in a dynamic, project-delivery environment.*Additional, preferred qualifications:** Knowledge of dimensioning and tolerancing ASME Y14.5 standard is an asset.* Working knowledge of major nuclear operator’s Engineering Change Control process.* Presentation skills and public speaking abilities is an asset.* Knowledge of seismic and environmental qualification methods and processes is an asset.* Security Clearance is a condition of employment.## **Rewards & benefits**Explore the rewards and benefits that help you thrive – at every stage of your life and your career at AtkinsRéalis in Canada.Enjoy competitive compensation, employee recognition, and a brilliant range of flexible benefits you can tailor to your health, wellbeing, financial and lifestyle needs.Make the most of diverse opportunities for training and professional development to grow your skills and expertise.And take advantage of our hybrid working culture and generous time-off policies to balance a fulfilling career with your personal life.Be rewarded.
